Tooth Fairy Pillows

When I was a kid I was lucky enough to grow up in the countryside. Behind my house was a large wood and in the middle of the wood lay a circle of fallen tree stumps. My friends and I used to tell stories of how the fairy's of each season would sit around these stumps to discuss things. I've always been fascinated with tales of mythology, guardian angels and other folk law. Sadly, having an older brother my belief in Santa and tooth fairies were short lived but one thing I was very keen to do with Evie is help her to develop childhood memories just like my "Season's boardroom in the woods"! So whilst browsing the net I stumbled across an idea of a tooth fairy pillow. What a fantastic and magical idea! So I set about drawing up a pattern and created my very first pillow!

It wasn't great and to be honest I didn't even take a photo of it but I learnt a few lessons and my second one was nearer the mark. It was for my friends little girl "Isla" who had just lost her first tooth!

The pillow's new owner was thrilled and feedback was that she had hung her tooth fairy pillow around her neck and was walking around with it willing her next wobbly tooth to drop out straight into the pocket!
But something still didn't feel right and I wondered whether I should change the eyes to look "cuter"!
I liked this version and posted my photo's on my crafty Bum's forum where I immediately received my first proper order. But I needed a boys version!
From here I started to receive quite a few orders via friends and so my pillows took off :-)

Included with the pillow is "The Legend of the Tooth Fairy" bedtime story. I'm so chuffed that people who are receiving their pillows are contacting me ordering more!

Photo's of my beautiful baby girl

I've always loved taking photo's of babies, with their wide innocent eyes and gummy smiles, so when little Evie came along on the 27th September 2009 she was always destined to be well photographed!
Initially it was easy to take her picture, all I had to do was try and make her smile! But as she started crawling I had to work quick!
She's a year old now and is my pride and joy!

Everyday Evie amazes me. She has gone from a defenceless wee thing weighing 7lb's to a miniture girl with a mind of her own! She has learnt how to pick up the tiniest of objects in her pincer grip. She knows right from wrong and loves nothing more than to test my reaction to her doing something she shouldn't be.
I reckon I've taken tens of thousands of photo's of her. Infact it wasn't until one evening when I was backing up my photos onto an external hard drive and the computer told me it would take 23 hours to copy them over did I realise how many I actually had!
So these are just a small selection of my favourite photos of little Evie!
It never ceases to amaze me how Evie is learning all the time. She can eat food, drink through a straw, wave her hands, express her delight at being tickled, flick through a book, climb stairs and give me a big slobbery kiss!
I love my little girl more than anything and motherhood has been an amazing journey. It can be so isolating and restricting but at the same time full of absolute delight. I've made so many new friends, I've been inspired to do stuff I've never thought I could. I can walk into a room full of Mums and babies and talk to anybody.
Ladies and gentlemen... My daughter, Evie Jo Croft xxx
